William Elliott was born in Larne, Antrim, Ireland on 1st March 1878 and was a Carpenter by occupation when he attested on 27 August 1915 at Toronto in the 74th Battalion. He proceeded to France with the 46th Battalion. Whilst in support trenches he was hit in the chest and legs by shrapnel from an enemy shell which burst beside him. He was evacuated to No. 10 Canadian Field Ambulance, where he succumbed to his wounds on 23 Oct 1917.
